| Get a budget , go to some shops and play every guitar within in your budget. i'd say pay attention to how it feels when you play , and the sound.. and don't forget to look for faults on the guitar if its just some paint scrathes its not a big deal. but loose input jackets , knobs etc its a turnoff. | |

| Jut to let you all know. there is a program called uhm Band in a box. and its basically you can choose chords you want to hear. and choose a music style and it plays the chords in that style .... so you have in no time a guitar only backing track! pretty cool my guitar teacher told me just today so im sitting here now playing lead over some backing tracks | |

| Good advice.
Other sites I use alot are ...
http://www.guitarbackingtrack.com
(has backing tracks for loads of popular rock songs, so you can play the guitar over the top)
http://www.guitarchaos.com/
Great site\forum with advice on playing guitar, what gear to buy as well as a backing track request forum, where you can get people to make backing tracks for songs you can't find anywhere else. Brilliant site.

| Yeah, I had a go on the demo. The things it does are really good, but yeah the UI could be a bit easier to use.
Downloading PowerTab and using www.ultimate-guitar.com to download the tablature for songs is also really useful. I have Guitar Pro but you have to pay for that for tabs.

| True. Jazz is really technical in terms of chord structure and progressions. Great way to improve though. | |
